The world of taxes continues to become more and more complex each year in spite of the government’s attempts at “tax simplification.” As a full time tax practitioner, I help hundreds of taxpayers each year and find that there are certain recurring questions I hear. This column will address some of these questions in the hopes that it will help you make some sense of our federal, state and local tax laws. Keep in mind, however, that all tax situations are different and that these answers are not all encompassing. These answers are intended to be the beginning of your search for clarification of tax laws.
